Sarah Jessica Parker, Harvey Weinstein, Marios Schwab Leave Halston,

Sarah Jessica Parker, Harvey Weinstein, Marios Schwab Leave Halston, First it was Sarah Jessica Parker, then Harvey Weinstein and finally Marios Schwab leaves Halston. Now, a quick recap. Harvey Weinstein joined in 2007 as co-owner in a bid to revive the ailing company which he fairly succeeded but it wasn’t enough. Marios Schwab then came onboard in 2009 to replace Marco Zanini as the creative director for Halston‘s main ready-to-wear line and again it just wasn’t enough.

Finally, Sarah Jessica Parker was hired in January 2010 as president and chief creative officer of Halston Heritage. Launched for Spring 2010, Halston‘s diffusion line focuses on classic Halston silhouettes at affordable price points.

Well it seems that despite trying their utmost to revive Halston, nothing it seems can bring back the former glory of the house to what it was back in the 70′s heydays. Although Harvey Weinstein, who is married to Marchesa’s Georgina Chapman, and Sarah Jessica Parker managed to bring something more current to the table with their popularity and connections but the Halston saga from the licensing complications and administrative issues back when Roy Halston Frowick was around sparked off this slow and gradual spiral down to mediocracy. Which is just so sad. Maybe Halston was only meant to be for Studio 54 and the 70′s. Many designers have come and go after Halston left including Marios Schwab. Though young and talented, inexperience and pressure to transform the brand probably got the better of him. Everything that Halston stood for has been long-lost when the 70′s was over and no one (those who came and went) was capable of transforming the brand like Tom Ford did for Gucci or even Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy.

Fast-forward to 2011, Halston has decided to pull the plug on its main ready-to-wear line after refusing to renew Marios Schwab‘s contract. Halston Spring 2012 will be no more and it remains to be seen if the Halston Fall 2011 collection will be available in stores. Halston Heritage, however, will remain but it is still not known who will replace Sarah Jessica Parker. John Galliano? (Just saying.)
