Such seems to be the case with Matthew McConaughey, whose planning paid off big time this year. 

On December 25, The Lincoln Lawyer actor asked long-time girlfriend and model Camila Alves to marry him.

Later that day, McConaughey himself broke the news on his Whosay account, featuring a picture of him kissing his lovely new fiancé and a caption stating, “Just asked Camila to marry me, Merry Christmas.” 

Hollywood leading man Matthew McConaughey got a very special gift this Christmas as he became engaged to his longtime girlfriend model Camila Alves, according to media reports on Tuesday.

The 42-year-old actor posted the news on celebrity website Whosay.com on Sunday, with a link to a photo of the couple kissing in front of a Christmas tree with the message ''just asked camila to marry me, merry Christmas.''

McConaughey, 42, said in a message posted on Twitter and WhoSay late on Sunday. 

The messages were accompanied by a photograph of the couple kissing in front of a Christmas tree.

Alves, 28, and McConaughey started dating in 2006 and have two children: Levi, age three, and Vida, who turns two next month.

Camila Alves is a Brazilian model and has lived with Matthew in Malibu for the past 3 years. So in reality we never really stood a chance.

The beautiful couple began dating in 2006 and have two children together -  23-month-old daughter Vida and 3-year-old son Levi.
