Jharkhand Train Accident, Five Killed, 9 Or More Injured, Five persons were today killed and four others injured in a collision between the New Delhi-bound Bramhaputra Mail and a goods train at Karonpuroto, about 25 kilometres from Sahibganj in Jharkhand.

The stationary goods train found snags and was standing on the tracks reportedly without a driver. And, the Brahmaputra Mail came along the train was sliding backwards next to the tracks that are on an incline at the location of accident.

The government has announced a compensation of Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh for the families of the dead and Rs 50,000 for the seriously injured in the mishap.

According to media reports, 11 bogies of the good train and one sleeper coach of the Brahmaputra Express was derailed in the accident.

On Wednesday at Karonpuroto which is located just only 25 km from Sahibganj in Jharkhand when the train which is on the way to New Delhi collided with the goods train five of them were killed and five others were also severely injured and admitted to the nearby hospitals.

"Railway minister Dinesh Trivedi has announced Rs 5 lakh compensation for each of the persons killed," said Samir Goswami, eastern railway spokesperson.

"All passengers have been brought out of the bogie. None are there now in wreckage," upto at 8.40 am.
