PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has emerged as a mediator between Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and army chief Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani after differences between Pakistan's civilian government and the powerful military seemed to reach at point of no return.

Hussain, who served as Prime Minister during Pervez Musharraf's reign, is considered to be close to the security establishment and is known for his links with the army's top brass.

The leadership of the Pakistan People's Party has requested Hussain, whose PML-Q is part of the ruling coalition, to help defuse tensions between the government and the military.

"Our party chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain is ready to mediate between the army and the government," PML-Q spokesman Kamil Ali Agha said.

The PML-Q will not mind playing the role of a bridge between the two institutions as it is in the best interest of the country.

Nobody would like a clash of institutions," Agha said.

Hussain had asked all stakeholders to observe restraint and clear all misunderstandings through dialogue, he said.

Champion Dhoni, Slams Hits Back, At Criticism Of His Captaincy

Champion Dhoni, Slams Hits Back, At Criticism Of His Captaincy, Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Thursday hit back at former cricketers criticising his captaincy in the ongoing Test series against Australia, saying that he was not bothered by them as he would get brickbats even after taking right decisions.

"At times I get it wrong and at times I don't get it wrong, but it's people who feel I've got it wrong," Dhoni said rather coyly to criticism about his captaincy from former cricketers.

Dhoni also defended Virat Kohli and Ishant Sharma who were involved in unsavoury incidents with the fans and laid the blame on the aggressive behaviour of fans.

Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni slammed the critics of his team, saying that the World Cup triumph has answered them.

With the selectors opting for a spin-oriented side for the cricket World Cup 2011, former India captain Sourav Ganguly on Thursday took on BCCI for omitting S Sreesanth from the squad.

"We have been hearing a lot of things during this tournament and so it feels great to win the World Cup," he said.

"I always wanted to give chance to younger players by sending them up the order. I thought, I would take the responsibility myself. It was more like proving myself and not to others,".

Asked specifically if the World Cup triumph was in a way telling the critics to shut up as the players would do their job with their performance, he said, "In India it would be very rude to say like that."

Dhoni admitted that he was not right all the time but the critics would comment otherwise even if he had taken a right decision. "You have to take it in stride.

It looks easier from the outside, it's easier to comment on decisions. More often than not, you see the result and then comment," he told reporters at the pre-match press conference ahead of the third Test against Australia starting here tomorrow.

"At times I get it wrong and, At times I don't get it wrong but it's people who feel I've got it wrong," said by Dhoni rather coyly to criticism about his captaincy from former cricketers.

180 runs was all that stood between India and a 2-0 series win. With the runs required from around 47 overs at a required rate of just 3.8 runs an over, the target which seemed very gettable.

But with three wickets gone for 86 skipper MS Dhoni and his troops went into defensive mode, thereby drawing flack from many.

Pakistani Actress Veena Malik, Bares Sues Over Nude Pose, It All For FHM

Indianofs.blogspot.com
Pakistani Actress Veena Malik, Bares Sues Over Nude Pose, It All For FHM, A popular Pakistani actress has accused an Indian men's magazine of publishing photos she says were doctored to make her appear nude.

Veena Malik's racy images in the December issue of FHM India has triggered fury in her country, with one Islamic cleric calling them a "shame for all Muslims."

The photo essay appears to make light of the military rivalry between India and Pakistan, nuclear-armed neighbours who have fought three wars.

Veena has not only revealed it all but has even gone ahead and got an ISI tattoo on her arms. This picture has been shot by ace photographer Vishal Saxena. The issue also has Veena talking about controversial topics like burqas and work related visas.

After returning to her country, she engaged in a fierce debate with a Muslim cleric, who decreed that Malik had displayed "immoral behaviour" as a contestant on Bigg Boss.

In her defence, Malik said that she was an artist and she wore the same clothes and behaved in the same fashion back home. She snubbed the cleric by giving him a taste of his own orthodox medicine.

She asked him if he had not violated the Islamic law by watching a strange woman (Malik in the Bigg Boss show) more than once.

The magazine's December issue only hit newsstands yesterday afternoon, but a weekend preview of the cover on its website triggered a media frenzy.
FHM India editor Kabeer Sharma said that he was mystified by Malik's allegations.

"Maybe she is facing some kind of backlash, so maybe that's why she is denying it.
"We have not photo-shopped or faked the cover. This is what she looks like, she has an amazing body," Sharma said.

A nude pose of the Pakistani actress Veena Malik in a December issue of FHM India  triggers a fury across this conservative nation. The photo were circulating in the web earlier this week.
